Aurora Dance Academy and Northern Manitoba Paws in Need both set up shop at the Lambert Paint & Decor parking lot July 27 to raise money for their respective causes.

The local animal shelter managed to collect a grand total of $600 through selling hotdogs, fries and drinks. According to Northern Manitoba Paws in Need owner Vickie McNevin, this money will be used to pay off their various vet bills.

The animal shelter also recently raised $5,000 through the first ever Pedal for Paws fundraiser, which took place July 20.

McNevin said she’s planning to host another public barbecue on Aug. 24 at the same location.

Meanwhile, Aurora Dance Academy members earned $350 through washing cars on Saturday afternoon.

This money will be used to help organize their third annual Samba, Mambo and Dine event, which is taking place at the Royal Canadian Legion Aug. 24.
