Leah Sotelo-Cruda
April 28, 1973 – May 5, 2017
Leah Sotelo-Cruda, age 44, passed away on Friday, May 5, 2017 at the Thompson General Hospital after a courageous battle with lung cancer. She is the loving wife of Bryan Cruda and a devoted mother to her son Jules Bryson Cruda and daughter Jan Nicole Cruda.
Leah was born in Davao City, Philippines on April 28, 1973 and grew up in Tagum City. She was the daughter of Nemesio and Consuelo Sotelo. Leah migrated to Thompson, Manitoba, Canada in September 2002 to join her husband Bryan. She considered Thompson her home away from home and has gained countless friends until her demise.
Besides her husband, children and parents, she leaves her sister Ofelia, Sister in Law Ryein, Brother in Laws Arnel and Vincent and nephews and nieces Moira, Ryan, Arren, Zahra and Etienne.
Leah was an incredible person who fought cancer until her last breath. She speaks highly of her colleagues in Assiniboine Credit Union where she was last employed as a Manager Member Service. She also enjoyed reading, baking and simply spending time with her friends and family. She is known as a graceful, loving and caring person and has practically nurtured almost every Filipino child born and raised in Thompson. We will surely miss her and her memories will remain in our hearts.
A celebration of Leah’s life was held on Tuesday, May 9th, 2017 at the St. Lawrence Roman Catholic Church in Thompson with Father Guna officiating the ceremony. At Leah’s request her remains were cremated.
