A 37-year-old woman died Nov. 14  in Thompson from injuries suffered when the snowmobile she was driving went over a snowbank and threw her and a passenger off the vehicle.

Thompson RCMP say the collision occurred around 4:15 p.m. on Saturday at the intersection of Cree Road and Weir Road. The woman’s snowmobile and another snowmobile were travelling north in an open field when the accident occurred.

The driver was pronounced dead at Thompson General Hospital. An 11-year-old female passenger who was also on the snowmobile was taken to hospital, treated and later released.

Both the driver and her passenger were wearing helmets at the time of the collision and alcohol is not a factor, says police, who continue to investigate.
