A suspected impaired driver who tried to evade police Oct. 18 after running two red lights collided with another car and sent its four occupants to hospital with minor injuries.

Thompson RCMP officers on patrol saw the car go through two red lights and then hit a curb near Mystery Lake Road in Thompson around 11:45 p.m. Friday night. They attempted to pull the vehicle over but the driver did not stop. The vehicle was located again several minutes later near the intersection of Mystery Lake Road and Thompson Drive South, where it had T-boned another car carrying a driver and three passengers.

The driver of the vehicle that failed to stop for police displayed signs of impairment and charges are pending.

The suspected impaired driver and the four occupants of the other vehicle were taken to Thompson General Hospital for treatment but no serious injuries resulted.
