The Thompson Junior Rifle Club brought one beginner team, one novice team and two intermediate shooters to the 63rd-annual Manitoba Junior Rifle Club Provincial Championships held in Morden May 27.  The Thompson shooters had a great time with Kurtlin Hollett winning the Lorraine Friesen Memorial trophy for second place in the intermediate category and coach Brent Turriff winning the Volunteer Postal Award for the second year in a row. The Thompson club had halted for several years while the University College of the North was being built and started back up in 2014. The club is looking at possibly hosting the 65th provincial championships in 2019 in Thompson.
