Approximately 70 people attended a grassroots open meeting held at the Army, Navy and Air Force Veterans hall Oct. 9. Attendees included seniors, caregivers, service providers and representatives from several organizations and the municipal government.

While concerns were expressed, the meeting focussed primarily on what was available in the community, often not generally known, and what is needed. The information from the survey will be brought to the next meeting and tentative plans are already underway to compile a comprehensive list of resources available to seniors in the community.

Several people expressed a desire to volunteer and this will be followed up. Suggestions, ideas and volunteers continue to be welcome at thethompsonseniors@shaw.caand accepted at Rotary Place (Rose or Evelyn) at 424 Westwood Dr.
