Local families braved the bitter cold on Saturday, Nov. 18 in order to catch a glimpse of Santa Claus and other colourful characters during Thompson’s annual Christmas parade.

This year’s collection of floats started heading north along Cree Road around 1 p.m. and turned west on Thompson Drive before finishing at the Thompson Regional Community Centre parking lot.

Overall, this year’s event saw participation from a variety of local groups and businesses, including Vale Manitoba Operations, the RCMP, Boss Auto, Hydro Manitoba, Canada Post, the Ma-Mow-We-Tak Friendship Centre and the University College of the North.

This parade has been a yearly occurrence in Thompson since 2010. Before then, the last time the city put on a Christmas parade stretched all the way back to 1959.
