Rudy the Raven popped in for five minutes to say hello to all the costumed to youngsters at the Thompson Public Library Halloween Party Oct. 29, as well as meeting Pikkles, the library hedgehog and employee Sharon Barrick's pet that she brings to work every day. Co-worker Amanda Sanders, dressed in black from head to toe and sporting her tiara, was in the thick of the action, standing to the right of Rudy and letting the black bird introduce himself individually to the kids.

The Kinette Club of Thompson is working to revive the image of Rudy the Raven who previously was associated with WinterFest. Historically, Rudy the Raven was a copyrighted character owned by the Kinsmen Club of Thompson. There is no longer a Kinsmen Club in Thompson but the Kinette Club of Thompson Is active, says Aureole Grimard, secretary of the club. The Kinette Club of Thompson belongs to the national organization of Kin Canada. Their motto is "Serving the Community's Greatest Need". The Kinette Club of Thompson is involved in many fundraisers, community events, and volunteer activities in Thompson. Rudy will be appearing throughout the winter at many family-oriented events to promote "kindness in the community," says Grimard.
