Three people killed in rollover crash between Thompson and Split Lake

Two other passengers were injured in the Oct. 30 single-vehicle accident on Provincial Road 280 and one remains in hospital.

A single-vehicle crash on Provincial Road 280 between Thompson and Split Lake on Oct . 30 killed three residents of Tataskweyak Cree Nation, RCMP say.

Three people from Tataskweyak Cree Nation died Oct. 30 after a rollover on Provincial Road 280 between Thompson and Split Lake, RCMP say.

The single-vehicle accident was reported to Thompson RCMP around 8 p.m. Saturday evening and officers arrived to find a 40-year-old man dead after being ejected from the vehicle and a 44-year-old woman in the backseat dead as well. The 30-year-old male driver had serious injuries and died while receiving medical attention. 

Two other passengers – a 21-year-old woman and a 42 year-old man – were injured in the crash. The woman was transported to hospital in Winnipeg, where she is in stable condition. The 42-year-old was treated for minor injuries and released.

An RCMP forensic collision reconstructionist is involved in the investigation.
