Thompson RCMP have arrested and charged two people in connection with the seizure of drugs and weapons.
On March 24, RCMP executed a search warrant at a residence in the Burntwood area of Thompson. During the search police uncovered a large quantity of marijuana and cannabis resin as well as a smaller amount of morphine and cocaine. A loaded .22 calibre handgun was also seized from the residence. Total street value of the drugs seized is approximately $30,000.
RCMP arrested 45-year-old David Smith of Thompson, who was remanded into custody on two charges of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of proceeds of crime and numerous firearms-related charges. Marianne Tabb, a 44-year-old Thompson woman, has also been charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking. She has been released from custody to appear in Thompson provincial court on April 16.
