The Northern Flood Committee, which represented bands at Cross Lake, Split Lake, Norway House, York Landing and Nelson House, asked the Manitoba government to set aside land to be used in case compensation claims for northern flooding were successful.

The board of trustees of the School District of Mystery Lake appointed Hugh Fraser principal of R.D. Parker Collegiate. He had been a vice-principal at the high school since 1984.

R.D. Parker Collegiate graduate Rick MacNab joined the Canadian Air Force's aerobatics team the Snowbirds as a communications/radar technician.

The School District of Mystery Lake voted to contract a commercial real estate appraiser to assess the school board office building for a potential sale.

Seven of eight city councillors and the mayor voted in favour at the city budget's first reading. Coun. Al MacLellan was opposed, saying he couldn't support a 2.77 per cent tax increase when people were not getting the full services for which they were paying.
