The City of Thompson was heading into its first weekend without any open recreational facilities because of a labour dispute between the city and United Steelworkers Local 7911 and 8223.
Mel Wyshynski, president of Inco's Manitoba Division, told the Thompson Chamber of Commerce that although the division could be viable at prices of $2 per pound, less than the current price of $4.68, Inco Ltd.'s profits for the last 12 quarters was only $16 million.
