It took only 14 polls and 50 minutes for CBC to declare incumbent NDP MLA Steve Ashton re-elected for his sixth term as Thompson's representative in the Manitoba legislature. Ashton won every poll in every community.
The Thompson General Hospital was now equipped with a video endoscope, which allows doctors to look at the inside of a person's bowels, lungs or stomach using fibre optics and a full-colour video screen.
