Man charged with 27 offences after three women in Thompson forcibly confined and assaulted

Charges laid after Feb. 2 incident include 10 counts of assault with a weapon, three counts of assault, three counts of forcible confinement and five counts of uttering threats.

A 24-year-old Nelson House man is facing 10 counts of assault with a weapon and numerous other offences after being arrested at an apartment complex on Princeton Drive in Thompson Feb. 2.

Thompson RCMP received a report of several people being stabbed around 7:30 p.m. Wednesday evening but the suspect had fled the scene by the time officers arrived. They checked several other apartments in the same complex until he was located and arrested.

Police learned the man had forcibly confined three women in an apartment and used multiple weapons to assault them. A young child was in the apartment while the assaults took place but was not physically injured.

Two of the women were treated by emergency medical services at the scene while the third was taken to hospital for treatment of her injuries.

In addition to the assault with a weapon charges, Antonio Miles Spence is charged with five counts of uttering threats, three counts each of forcible confinement and assault, breaking and entering, abandoning a child, administering a noxious substance, mischief under $5,000, possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose and resisting arrest.

He was remanded into custody.
