A 33-year-old Thompson man has been charged after a pair of break-ins at businesses in downtown Thompson in the early morning hours of Nov. 14.

At approximately 4 a.m. that morning, RCMP responded to a break-in alarm at a downtown gas station. "The window had been smashed, and the suspect was gone on arrival," said RCMP Sgt. Rob Collen.

Not long after this incident - about 45 minutes later - RCMP received a report of a suspicious person leaving a restaurant in the same area. The restaurant was also found to have been broken into.

"The subsequent investigation identified a suspect, who was arrested at 6 a.m. at his residence," said Collen. Sheldon Mallett was arrested, charged with two counts of breaking and entering along with failing to comply with probation and bail conditions, and was remanded into custody.
