A Jan 5. story in the Thompson Citizen incorrectly referred to the new Workplace Essential Skills Training (WEST) Centre in Thompson as being part of the University College of the North (UCN). In fact, it is not, although WEST is using both University College of the North facilities in Polaris 6 on the Princeton Drive campus and University College of the North instructors.
The Workplace Essential Skills Training (WEST) Centre in Thompson is one of six across the province opened by Winnipeg-based Workplace Education Manitoba (WEM), which describes the organization as a partnership between government, industry and labour. Workplace Education Manitoba is funded by taxpayers through both provincial and federal funding.
