Thompson RCMP tracked down two suspects in an armed robbery with the help of a police dog in the early hours of June 28.

Police were notified of an assault and robbery outside a Mystery Lake Road business around 12:30 a.m. Monday. A 21-year-old man from Thompson had a knife pulled on him and his cell phone stolen by a male and female suspect who fled on foot.

Police Service Dog Linkin began to track the suspects and police received a report a short time later about a man and a woman yelling in the bush by the Millennium Trail. Responding officers found the woman but the man who was with her ran away. Investigation determined that the pair were the suspects from the armed robbery and the woman was arrested.

Linkin was brought to the scene and deployed and located the male suspect, who was treated for minor injuries.

A 22-year-old man from Lac Brochet is charged with robbery and assault with a weapon while a 19-year-old female from Nelson House is charged with robbery with a weapon. Both remain in custody and the investigation continues.
