Two Thompson residents were arrested and charged on June 23 in an investigation targeting street level drug traffickers in the city.
Patrick Shamus Jackson, a 23-year old, has been charged with trafficking cocaine. He was remanded into custody and was scheduled to appear in provincial court June 25. Jackson was already before the courts on a charge of possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking after being arrested Jan. 26 during a vehicle stop on Highway 6 north of Winnipeg. He was, however, released on bail originally on that charge.
Ryan Scott MaCumber, 24, has also been charged with trafficking cocaine. He has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear in provincial court Aug. 10.
The RCMP seized a small quantity of powder cocaine during the course of the investigation, said Sgt. Line Karpish, an RCMP "D" Division media relations spokesperson in Winnipeg. Several officers were involved in the investigation, including support from the RCMP North Crime Reduction Enforcement Support Team, the RCMP Thompson General Investigation Section, the RCMP Thompson Drug Section and the RCMP Thompson Police Dog Service.
Residents are being encouraged to report any suspected drug activity to the RCMP or their local law enforcement agency. In Thompson the public is asked to call the Thompson RCMP detachment at: 204-677-6995
