On June 4 at 10:50 a.m., RCMP from the Thompson detachment were notified by Navigation Canada that an aircraft was coming in for an emergency landing due to engine failure.

The RCMP, along with the local fire department and EMS, responded to the call and went to Highway 391, about 22 kilometres northwest of Thompson. All five passengers on board along with the pilot exited the aircraft after the pilot was able to safely land on the highway. No injuries were reported and no damage was inflicted on the aircraft.

The aircraft had been flying from Laurie River, just north of Pukatawagan, and heading to the Kelsey Dam when the right engine failed. The pilot attempted to reach the Thompson airport but was forced to land before reaching it.

The Transportation Safety Board has been notified and the investigation continues, say RCMP.
