Alberta's John Wort Hannam packed in a crowd of more than 30 last Saturday night in the Thompson Public Library's Basement Bijou Room for the second-last Home Routes concert of the year.

Alberta's John Wort Hannam is next up on Thompson's Home Routes music circuit March 13. Tickets are $15 per person. Hannam is from the prairies of southern Alberta and has been compared to Gordon Lightfoot, James Keelaghan and John Prine.

The Reel North Film Festival Basement Bijou double feature at the Thompson Public Library March 6 opens with director Charles Officer's first dramatic feature film Nurse. Fighter. Boy. Doors at 7 p.m. with screening at 7:30 p.m.

The Heritage North Museum has long been the place to go in Thompson for delving into the history of Northern Manitoba.

The Manitoba Theatre Centre (MTC), based in Winnipeg, will wrap up the City of Thompson's Concert Series for 2009-10 on Feb. 28 during their 2010 regional tour of Robert Chafe's 2002 play Tempting Providence.

Toronto's HOTCHA!, with Beverly Kreller on vocals, bodhran, accordion, guitar, kazoo, mouth trumpet, spoons and Howard Druckman on vocals, guitar, slide and harmonica, will be here Feb. 12 for the Home Routes Concert Tour Thompson stop.

Reel North, in partnership with the Thompson Public Library, is back in the Basement Bijou Room of the Thompson Public Library Feb. 13 at 7 p.m. with the Czech double featureEmpties and (500) Days of Summer.

Thompson artist Teresa Burrows' The Sul(fur) Queen, which was exhibited at the Cheongju International Craft Biennale in South Korea last fall, has been chosen to continue touring with the Selected Works of Unity & Diversity.

The Reel North Film Festival and the Basement Bijou at the Thompson Public Library are showing Waltz with Bashir for their second documentary Tuesday night movie night Jan. 25. Show time is 7 p.m.
