'Tis the Season
The spirit of the season was in evidence around Thompson in the weeks leading up to Christmas, both in the form of a white-bearded visitor and the spirit of generosity that residents displayed.

Burntwood Elementary School Grade 7 girls decided to get together every Tuesday and Thursday at lunch to arm knit scarves for the homeless and donate them to the Warm Your Heart Make A Scarf initiative. They made 22 scarves. This initiative was inspired by the girls to show kindness in our community. The girls would also like to thank everyone who donated wool. We are very proud of their efforts! Pictured are Taylor Hansen-Oliveria, Caitlyn Sass, Coralee Kipling, Trinity Bignel, McKenna Brown, Emma Deibert and Taryn Francois. Kaitlynne Meuse was also one of the knitters.

It was all smiles on Dec. 19 at the Boreal Discovery Centre, during the Night Before Christmas reading. A group of children sat and listened to the Christmas tale, and even got a chance to let Santa hear their Christmas wishes afterwards. All money raised during this reading through ticket sales and a garage sale indoors will go towards the Boreal Discovery Centre and the wolf exhibit.

Santa Claus paid a visit to the Thompson Homeless Shelter Dec.17. The jolly old fellow handed out bananas and juice to shelter clients for a healthy Christmas snack. Mr. Claus dug deeper into his sack of gifts and pulled out socks, gloves and winter hats, too.
