Trojans girls’ curling team beats Flin Flon twice to win Zone 11 banner, punch ticket to provincials

R.D. Parker Collegiate’s female curling team of Brooke Graham, Madison Andrews, Keanna Nowlin and Kamryn Brown beat the Hapnot Collegiate Institute Kopper Kweens from Flin Flon twice to claim the Zone 11 championship in The Pas Feb. 9.

The Trojan girls took their first game against their opponents from Flin Flon by a score of 10-1 in a five-end match. The final was closer but RDPC prevailed 9-6 for their second straight Zone 11 girls’ curling championship.

The Kopper Kweens started out with an 11-5 win over the host Margaret Barbour Collegiate Institute Spartans. They then beat MBCI 12-10 in their third game to earn a berth in the finals.

The girls’ high school curling provincials will be played Feb. 21-23 at Prairie Mountain High School in Somerset.
