Thompson Tumblers clean up in St. Andrews

On Feb. 9 the Thompson Tumblers Gymnastics Team travelled to St. Andrews to compete in their first competition of the season. A total of nine gymnasts, ranging in ages between seven and 13, competed in levels JO1 through JO4.

On Feb. 9 the Thompson Tumblers Gymnastics Team travelled to St. Andrews to compete in their first competition of the season. A total of nine gymnasts, ranging in ages between seven and 13, competed in levels JO1 through JO4.

First to compete were Michaela Roeckenwagner for JO3 age 12 and Nadia Wilson for JO4 ages 13-15. Michaela Roeckenwagner placed fifth on vault, first on bars, thirdon beam and secondon floor receiving a silver medal for all-around. Nadia Wilson placed first in all four events receiving a gold medal for all-around.

Hannah Haas was next up in session two for JO2 age 10. Hannah Placed first on vault, beam and floor, and secondon bars receiving a gold medal for all-around.

We had four competitors in session three: Lindy Beirnes and Kyla Saskowski for JO1 age 12, Keiryn Robertson for JO2 age 12 and Madison Jackson for JO2 ages 13-plus. The JO1 level receives either a gold, silver or bronze for each apparatus and all-around based on individual scores. This was the first competition for both Lindy and Kyla. Lindy received gold for both vault and floor, a silver for bars and a bronze for beam giving her a silver all-around. Kyla received silver for all four events giving her a silver all-around. Keiryn placed first on vault, beam and floor, and secondon bars to receive a gold medal for all-around. Madison placed first on bars and beam, and secondfor vault and floor, receiving a gold medal for all-around.

Last to compete for the day in session four were Kaya Kopeechuk for JO1 age seven and Demi Robertson for JO1 age eight. This was the first competition for both Kaya and Demi. Kaya received a gold for both vault and floor, silver on beam and bronze on bars, receiving a silver for all-around. Demi received a gold for both vault and floor, silver on bars and bronze for beam receiving a silver for all-around.

On behalf of all the coaches I would like to thank all of our competitors for their hard work and dedication. This was a very successful competition for our club. We look forward to the rest of the season and our future competitions. We are all very proud of you.
