The Trojans soccer squads from R.D. Parker Collegiate competed in Swan River on Sept. 26, finishing the tournament with five wins in six games combined.
The boys’ team opened the tournament with a 2-0 shutout against the host Swan Valley Tigers and then beat the Hapnot Collegiate Institute Kopper Kings from Flin Flon by an identical score before completing the tournament with a perfect record by defeating the Dauphin Clippers 3-2. The Trojans scored twice in injury time to tie the game 2-2 before taking the decision on penalty kicks.
The girls edged Swan Valley 1-0 in their first game and lost 1-0 to Hapnot in their second match before concluding with a 2-1 victory over Dauphin that tied the Trojans for the best record in the girls’ tournament.
RDPC’s teams will be back on the field this weekend when they host the Zone 11 championships in Thompson. The boys’ and girls’ champions will advance to high school soccer provincials.
