Senior girls’ team falls in first round of playoffs at volleyball provincials

R.D. Parker Collegiate’s senior girls’ volleyball team won one of five games at the provincial championships in Winnipeg Nov. 29 to Dec. 1, ending their season with a first-round playoff loss to the Linden Christian Wings on Saturday.

The Wings defeated the Trojans 25-20, 25-18 in the playoffs to knock them out of the tournament.

That loss followed a 25-22, 25-14 win over the St. James Jimmies earlier in the day that secured RDPC fourth place in their pool and a spot in the playoffs. Dennita Cameron was the Trojans’ player of the game in that matchup.

The tournament started with a 20-25, 25-13, 5-15 loss to the Virden Bears in which Hayley Sylvester was RDPC’s player of the game.

That was followed by 20-25, 19-25 loss to the Niverville Panthers in which Ashley Williams was the Trojans’ player of the game.

The second-last round robin game for the Trojans was a 12-25, 20-25 defeat at the hands of the Westgate Wings. Brooklyn Merasty was named the Trojans player of the game.
