The Thompson Ring Ravens travelled to Winnipeg to participate in the Transcona ringette tournament Jan. 17-19.

The Ring Ravens weekend of ringette started off Friday night with their first game against the Maples Monarchs. At the end of two exciting periods of regular play the score was tied 5-5. Off to a shootout to determine the winner. Three shooters are picked from each team to shoot, six shooters shootand no shooters score, next on to one shooter from each team to shoot.

After an intense, nerve-racking 10-player shoot out, Megan Duff's skilfully placed shot sails past the goalie to clinch Thompson's victory! Great job girls and outstanding goaltending by Jaiden Crocker!

Thompson's next game is against Oxford Heights Saturday afternoon. After a gruelling, rough game of ringette, Thompson can't seem to catch up to Oxford Heights resulting in a 7-3 loss.

Going into game three against Brandon with one player short due to injury Thompson blazed out on to the ice and dominated the whole game resulting in a 12-7 victory!

Off to the finals to face Oxford Heights for a second time in the gold medal game. In a bold move made by the petite and novice coaching staff, a decision was made to move up the novice goalie to play net to bring the petites back up to a full team of skaters. After a rough and hard-fought first period and beginning of the second period Thompson was down 6-1. But then at 8:14 Thompson scores and scores again at 5:52 then once again at 3:56! The Ring Ravens are on a comeback! But, time is not on our side and the clock runs out, leaving the score at 6-4 and the Ravens silver medal winners!

Awesome job, girls! You played hard with heart and never gave up! You make your coaches very proud! And also a very special thanks to Rydell Monias for playing net for us!
