RDPC’s junior boys volleyball team wraps up season at provincials

R.D. Parker Collegiate’s junior boys’ volleyball team lost in the first playoff round at provincials in Brandon to the eventual champion Westgate Wings to end their season Nov. 24.

The Wings defeated the Trojans 25-9, 25-20 to continue their run to the championship. Pavlo Zukchenko was the player of the game for RDPC in their final match of the season.

The Trojans had finished fourth in their pool in the round robin with a 1-3 record. Their only victory came against the W.C. Miller Aces by a score of 25-18, 25-17 in their first game of the tournament, with Sam Miller named RDPC’s game star. That good start was followed by a first-day loss to the Landmark 96ers by a score of 19-25, 20-25 with Alex Stokes taking game star honours for the Trojans. Ethan Alcock was the Trojans player of the game in a 10-25, 20-25 loss to the Collége Louis Riel Voyageurs to start the tournament’s second day, which concluded with a close 19-25, 25-22, 13-15  loss to the Neelin High School Spartans, in which Shawn Bighetty-Cook was named the Trojans’ player of the game.
