R.D. Parker Collegiate’s junior girls’ basketball team went undefeated at the Zone 11 championships to book their spot at the junior high school basketball provincials in Brandon March 7-9.

R.D. Parker Collegiate’s junior girls’ basketball team went undefeated at the Zone 11 championships in Norway House Feb. 22-23 to earn a spot at provincials in Brandon March 7-9.

The Trojans defeated the Margaret Barbour Collegiate Institute (MBCI) Spartans from The Pas 54-33 in the final to claim the championship.

Danica Langan was named the game star of the final as well as in two of her team’s three round-robin games, with Emma Tomchuk taking game star honours in the other.

RDPC began the tournament with a 55-29 win over MBCI, then beat the host Helen Betty Osborne Ininiw Education Resource Centre (HBO) Huskies 64-20 and closed by beating Mikisew School from Cross Lake 64-20.

RDPC’s junior boys’ team fell one win short of a trip to provincial, dropping the final 79-58 to MBCI. The Spartans had beaten the Trojans 67-55 in their first round-robin game. RDPC then beat HBO 69-60 and Mikisew 73-55 to earn a spot in the championship game.
