R.D. Parker Collegiate’s girls’ curling team skipped by Brooke Graham swept their way to provincials with back-to-back victories over the Hapnot Collegiate Institute team at the Zone 11 championships in Thompson Feb. 7-8.

The team received a bye to the second round and defeated the Kopper Kweens 8-1 to earn a spot in the final. Hapnot, which beat Margaret Barbour Collegiate Institute (MBCI) from The Pas 9-5 in the tournament’s opening game, then bested MBCI again 11-0 to make it to the final. RDPC’s team was once again too much for Hapnot, as they cruised to a 9-0 win.

RDPC’s boys’ team, skipped by Matt Schultz, fell 12-3 to one of two MBCI teams in their first game and then lost 7-5 to Hapnot in their first B-side matchup to be eliminated from the tournament. MBCI’s teams played each other in a 6-1 championship final.

The girls’ provincial curling championships are being hosted Feb. 20-22 at École Edward Schreyer School in Beausejour.
