R.D. Parker Collegiate’s girls’ curling team skip Brooke Graham was announced as the Manitoba High Schools Athletic Association rural high school athlete of the week Feb. 19.

Graham, a Grade 11 student, helped her team capture their third straight Zone 11 curling championship earlier this month by hitting some difficult draws and calling some great games along the way to victory.

"She is a hard-working, dedicated student and athlete, who demonstrates a passion for the sport of curling,” said RDPC athletic director Tairra Warren in an MHSAA press release. “Brooke has curled since a young age and has aspirations to curl at a higher level after high school. She is extremely coachable, often eager to learn and discuss new techniques and strategy, and she is highly committed to perfecting her skills and leadership ability."

Graham, who maintains a 95 per cent academic average, competed at the Scotties Tournament of Hearts women’s provincial curling championships with a team from the Burntwood Curling Club in January.
