R.D. Parker Collegiate senior girls' basketball team member Emma Deibert was named the Manitoba High Schools Athletic Association’s rural high school athlete of the week Feb. 5 after being named an all-star at a Jan. 30-Feb. 1 tournament in Sanford.
Deibert averaged 13.5 points, five rebounds, four blocks and three steals per game at the tournament to help her team go undefeated and claim the championship.
"From a young age she has always displayed strong leadership both on and off the basketball court, attributes that her team relies on,” said coach Christine Sim. “Putting extra work in at the gym is something that Emma consistently does, she's always wanting to learn new things that will better her game, an extremely coachable kid who is dedicated and willing to work hard."
A Grade 12 student, Deibert has a 70 per cent academic average.
