Skate Thompson concluded its skating season March 23 at the C.A. Nesbitt Arena with a 'Pajama Party on Ice,' where skater showed off all they had learned before an audience of family and friends.
"The night was a lot of fun, all our soloists performed beautifully," said Skate Thompson secretary April Lafleur, whose daughter Selacia was one of the solo performers, along with Jordan Clinton, Megan Szabo, Anna Krokosz-Boychuk, Ramona Pelland, Kim Hanlon, Kassia Wolanski-McGirr, Zoe O'Callaghan, Shailey Toporowsky, Brieanne Bruneau, Hayley Jenkins, Megan Wischnewski, Sara Bonner-Proulx, Erica Anderson, Madyson Caldwell and Athena O'Callaghan. "We had a larger audience than we've had over the past couple of years, so that was great."
Group performances were put on by the STARSkate A group, the CanSkate red group, the preschool CanSkate group, the PreSTARSkate group, the Power Skate group, the sTARSkate A/B group, the CanSkate blue group, the CanSkate orange group and the STARSkate B/C group.
"The CanSkaters were really excited to show off their skills for their family and friends," said Lafleur. "All the skaters wore pajamas for the group numbers."
Also performing were Nicole Saindon and Skate Thompson coach Amy Portey, who took to the ice together for the Argentine Tango.
The show was followed by awards and pizza in the Mary Fenske Boardroom.
"We had some great volunteer the night of the show along with fabulous coaches and eager skaters to pull it off," said Lafleur. "Wapanohk School loaned us their popcorn popper and Hubert Bruneau donated the supplies for it. Multicrete donated the pizza. It was a great success."
