What an exciting season for Skate Thompson. On Oct. 20 Skate Thompson was the host to the Norman Region All Star Seminar. This is a figure skating seminar that is held annually for skaters in the StarSkate session throughout the region. The Norman Region consists of skaters from Thompson, Gillam, The Pas and Flin Flon skating clubs. What an honour for Thompson to host such an event.
Twenty-three skaters travelled from across Northern Manitoba to participate in the all-star seminar. Our clinician for the event was Laurie Bertholet who is an accomplished Level 3 NCCP coach from Skate Brandon. Laurie taught our skaters new skills and techniques in fun and creative ways on the ice. She inspired all our skaters to work hard and love the ice!
The skaters also had the opportunity to participate in off-ice Sessions. Stretching and dancing with Carrie Oke and then working up a sweat in a pound class with Samantha Long really helped give the skaters a memorable and exhilarating day. Thank you, Carrie and Sam.
What a great way for our skaters in the Norman region to improve their skating skills and meet other skaters in our region. Our next regional event will be the Norman Regional STARSkate Competition/Funskate in The Pas Jan. 26-27.
