Former RDPC teacher receives athletic association award

Former Thompson teacher Mark Diboll, now employed at Portage Collegiate in Portage la Prairie, was announced as the winner of the Manitoba High Schools Athletic Association's 2012 Frank L. McKinnon Award during the annual award luncheon at the association's annual general meeting in Gimli on June 18.

Diboll began his teaching and coaching career at R.D. Parker Collegiate in 1982 and moved to Portage in 1996. While principal of École Arthur Meighen School

and later as part of the administration team at the amalgamated Portage Collegiate, Diboll was instrumental in the creation of the Trojans football program. He has also been a board member of the MHSAA and chaired several of its committees.

Named for the long-time principal of Carman Collegiate, who was also a former president and board member of the MHSAA, the Frank L. McKinnon Award is presented to an outstanding contributor to high school athletics.
