To the Editor:

I read with admiration Donna Wilson's Out & About column regarding the ongoing fight against breast cancer. She has always been such a champion for the fight and should be commended. This has always been most evident as I watched her emcee Relay for Life. The effort she is now putting into bringing awareness to everyone through the newspaper during Breast Cancer Awareness Month is awesome. Great job!

As you know breast cancer, along with other cancers has taken many dear friends from me. Cancer is such a wretched disease - it comes along and tears our lives and families apart. It MUST be beaten!

There are many times when I wonder WHY we are doing all the fundraising, and WHY a cure has not been found by now. But then I think of the MANY friends and relatives who are still in my life because they won the battle against breast cancer - and I know that is WHY.

Recently there were findings by a team at the British Columbia Cancer Agency, giving an unprecedented glimpse of how breast cancer evolves. These findings should result in the ability to more effectively and successfully treat breast cancer. That research would not have been possible without our fundraising. So I will continue to participate in Relay for Life, donate whenever I can and wear a pink ribbon and THINK PINK.
