The School Zone

Scary times with the cosmetology girls

T'was the day before Halloween at our R.D. Parker fair, and all the creatures were stirring ready to scare. Welcome back to the School Zone! On the day before Halloween, two major things happened at our school: The cosmetology department's haunted house and our annual Halloween assembly.

The haunted house was beyond frightening; it was styled to look like an asylum where something had gone beyond wrong. The walls were splattered with blood and the lights were out, with strobe lights lighting the way. Loud eerie music blasted in the background, the bass could be felt in your chest. You were lead in by one of the "doctors" who had lost their minds. Down the hall was a young man violently shaking in a wheel chair, and past him was a girl convulsing and twitching. When going through the first door, the girl at the end of the hallway would scream and run towards it. The door was slammed shut behind you and she would bang against it. This room was lit in a red light, the walls black, and someone stood in front of the door, blocking the only escape route. Further in the room on the left were a group of people. One was lying on a table screaming in pain and agony, while his guts were ripped out through his stomach and played with by several "doctors." To your right was a doorway, blocked by a cage; another young lady banged against the cage and screamed to be let out.

After a short trip into this room your were lead out into the hall again, past the young man in the wheel chair, and into the next room. This room was black as night with a strobe light occasionally lighting up the surroundings. Three people were typically in this room, and their scare tactics rarely failed. They would crawl or twitch while walking towards you, grabbing on to arms and legs attempting to pull you inside. Usually most ran out at that point or were on the ground freaking out. The door would open and they were let out. They were then ushered out past the girl from the very beginning of the house, and a table full of bloody organs.

The cosmetology girls found their haunted house to be a great success, and were very thankful to the drama students who helped them out by acting as the patients in the haunted house. Congrats guys!

At the Halloween assembly a great many things happened including a Thriller dance contest, singing, guitar playing, a man playing with fire and a "fuzzy bunny" contest. For those who don't know "fuzzy bunny" is a game where you stick a marshmallow into your mouth and say fuzzy bunny, you continue sticking marshmallows into your mouth until you can no longer say fuzzy bunny. The last person able to say fuzzy bunny wins. There was a tie for first place this year, but come next year who knows what will happen? The assembly was wonderful and entertaining as usual, so if you see anyone from the Power Of Youth congratulate them on the job well done.

That's all for this one. See you in a couple of weeks everyone.
