The School Zone

It's all about graduation

Welcome back. Right before school ended for our winter break we had our usual holiday assembly. The Power of Youth, as usual, was in charge, and it was wonderful! Between decorating our teachers, chugging eggnog, and sitting on Santa's lap while his helpers (an angel and the Grinch) had a little enjoyment, it was designed to get everyone involved and having fun. The school day ended early, and everyone went home. I hope you had a great break by the way.

Now that were up to date with January I'll let you in on some of the things that have been happening more recently. On Tuesdays after school, and Wednesdays at lunch students and staff can attend a yoga class at the school for free (it should be on the announcements where it is, but if it isn't try checking with the phys-ed teachers!) If you're into a bit more upbeat kind of thing try checking out the kickboxing going on after school on Wednesdays in the gymnasium. Both are a great way to get extra hours for your gym credit, get some more exercise in and try new things. Who knows maybe you'll actually like yoga or kickboxing; you'll never know unless you try it.

Recently there was also a grad meeting, where the graduating students were made aware of some upcoming events, and the graduation fee ($155 this year). The grad pictures are from Feb. 1 to 4 (also known as exam week). To sign up head down to student services, but don't forget when it is. Jostens will be here on the Feb. 24 for graduation rings. You can go online and design your own at their website, and bring it in, then all they have to do is size your finger and your done! Of course grad rings and pictures are not included in the graduation fee, so if you want them don't forget your money.

Students who are graduating are urged to do their grad check as soon as possible, hopefully before next semester. So that they find out if they need to change their classes or sign up for new ones while they can still do it. Also, you will not be let into the next grad meeting if you do not have it done.

The prom committee is meeting every Monday at 12:30 p.m. in the upper theatre. If you are interested in helping out, they would greatly appreciate it. They need all the help they can get with fundraising, decoration ideas, and miscellaneous other things. Future fundraisers that maybe coming up are chocolate sales, and bingo. A key word here person is may; no final decisions have been made yet.

Good luck with exams everyone! Until next time.
