The School Zone

Auditions for Baraboo the Last Show on Earth coming up

And we're back with the School Zone, which in case no ones noticed yet happens about every two weeks. Since the last article we have had a couple things happen. Such as last week's awesome three-day week (which left us with a four-day weekend). There was a grad committee meeting held and quite a bit happened there. Their co-chair people are Priscilla Nordstrom and Becky Pritchard. They are the ones in charge of a great many things and we have a group of five working on grad clothing, a long with one of our teachers. It has already been discovered that grad pictures will be during exam week, and the people for grad rings will be here on Feb. 24. The grad assembly will be held Oct. 29 during slot B, where our cap and gown forms will be coming out, the committee representative will speak, and media release forms will be coming out.

After the grad meeting I was approached by one of the janitorial staff, he wanted to congratulate the students on keeping the school cleaner this year, and encourage us to continue with our good behaviour. Apparently there has been less locker graffiti this year than last year.

An insider in the Youth Aboriginal Council has informed me of some special things coming up this November. Among them are Bully Awareness Week, and Addictions Awareness Week. They have a lot of plans for those two weeks including gym nights. So keep a look out during the month of November. They have an extremely special mystery guest joining us on Nov. 20; no details available but you guys will certainly enjoy it.

The Power of Youth has been placing flyers inside of the students' lockers. They need new members this year. They are branching out into several committees including the finance committee, public relations committee, a newsletter committee, an activities committee, and a school approval committee. Any one of those committees would look great on a resume, which is one of the Power Of Youth's selling points. Looking for information on the committees? Just keep an ear out on the morning announcements for their next meeting; their usual trend is Tuesday's at lunch.

The Drama Students Association had their fashion show last Thursday and the events were interesting to say the least. The students came out one by one in some of the most interesting costumes I have ever seen. They got them from the schools costume department and mixed and matched them in some crazy ways. You could definitely tell that they were having a blast though. They had spent the entire day getting ready for it, baking since noon and though the turn out wasn't great, it was a good time to be had by all there.

Speaking of Drama, the auditions for Baraboo the Last Show on Earth are coming up in November. Interested in a part, or have an act you want to show case? Head down to Room 178 and sign up. This play is going to be huge, ladies and gentlemen.

But, that is all we have room for, so until the next article, bye!
