To the Editor:

I want to thank everyone who contributed or attended the Old Fashioned Christmas Concert held last week in Thompson.

Not only was it a great fundraiser for A Port in the Storm at the Letkemann Theatre but also the event was sold out to the wonderful Thompsonites who braved the weather to support it.

The evening was enjoyable, amazing, funny and a joy to spend with talented and "attempted to be talented" local entertainment. Joining in the carols was the audience who unabashedly sang along to favourites. To anyone who didn't attend, the hilarious performer was the Grinch himself who grinched throughout the show until the final act with the unorthodox rendition of "The Twelve Days of Christmas" which produced gales of laughter.

In addition to the show, there were homemade dainties, A Port in the Storm t-shirts, homemade cake and gingerbread house raffles, handmade slippers, doilies, bag holders, tea towels, and other crafts for sale.

The decorations were also in order of old fashioned concerts with Baby Jesus in the manger at the entrance to the theatre to greet all comers and remind us all of the reason for the Christmas celebration.

With all the commercializing of this holiday, it was gratifying to attend such a great concert showcasing old-fashioned values.
