To the Editor:

I had opportunity to drive the road from Thompson to Gillam recently and was dismayed to see that a person/persons had spent what I presume to be a large amount of time and effort placing bottles, cans, bags, beer boxes and other types of debris on the trees between Thompson and Split Lake.

If only this energy and determination had been put to a constructive use rather thancreating such an ugly sightand at the same time painting a very negative picture of the North and the people in it. Why is it that we are so disrespectful of our environment? Why do our roadways look like garbage dumps? What must people think if this is their first impression of the North? Where is that respect for nature and all things in it that we proclaim to have? Can we not do something to clean up our image?
