Was letter answering questions a way for the NDP candidate to avoid answering them herself?

To the Editor:

It really confuses me as to why Graham Walker would think his name is Danielle Adams. Last week he wrote in and proceeded to try and sell his communist, or at the very least socialist, vision of Manitoba under the pretence of answering questions that were asked of our NDP candidate for Thompson. Is Mr. Walker suffering from some sort of identity crisis? Was he asked to write this so that Ms. Adams could deliberately avoid being on record with some of these far left ramblings? I have to wonder.

I would like to address a few of the omissions and misrepresentations that Mr. Walker tried to represent as being factual. The first being that the Leap Manifesto is not a radical environmental policy adoption. Mr. Walker accuses me of not reading it, but he is the one who obviously has not read its contents. The Leap Manifesto asks for an end to all new mineral/oil/resource extraction. It is also a document that asks the people to sign if they are willing to help implement its contents and beliefs. It most definitely is a thing to be scared of. It asks for huge increases in taxation and the end of the resource sector as we know it.

Also, Mr. Walker insists that the NDP allows its members to openly vote outside party lines. That is completely untrue, the NDP has always had a party whip and has punished past members of caucus for dissenting votes.

Asking Ms. Adams whether she supports a carbon tax is absolutely critical information we need her to share. Currently, Manitoba and the western provinces are undergoing a court challenge to the federal carbon tax. How on earth does Mr. Walker think that this question is not applicable to a Manitoba political candidate? We need to know if her government intends to support the implementation of Trudeau's carbon tax. To suggest otherwise is absurd, Mr. Walker.

I thank you for taking the time to respond to my questions. As misguided, and socialist, as your answers appear, at least you attempted to answer them. I still have to wonder why Ms. Adams has chosen not to do so. What is this new NDP trying to hide? A 60-cent increase to the carbon tax perhaps?
