Tell provincial government to leave Lifeflight air ambulance alone

To the Editor:

As Northerners we were very disappointed to hear about the recent decision of the Progressive Conservative government to privatize Lifeflight services. Lifeflight is an essential part of the healthcare network for residents in northern and remote communities – it ensures that every Manitoban has access to emergency medical treatment.

Frontline workers, doctors, patients and northerners have told the government that privatizing Lifeflight will put Northerners at risk by prioritizing profit before service.

We also need to remember who will win with the PCs' plan. The last multimillion dollar contract for air services Premier Brian Pallister’s government handed out was to the Exchange Income Corporation, which is headed by former PC premier Gary Filmon.

We need to let this PC government know that we as Northerners will not let our health care take a back seat to Pallister's rich friends’ profiteering. We need to tell them to leave Lifeflight alone!
