To the Editor:

Here at Paint Lake Resort, we agree with Mr. Randy Kajtar's letter to the Editor in the Sept. 17, 2014 edition of the Thompson Citizen.

Not only does closing the campground so early hurt our small business tremendously but it definitely affects the whole economy for Northern Manitoba. Over the last nine years, we have watched a stream of campers drive up to the campground office with their fifth wheels and motorhomes just to discover the doors and gates are locked. It's September, the most beautiful time of year to go fishing, hiking and exploring the beauty of this area! They come from afar to enjoy all the sights and sounds that they've discovered on websites and heard of through word of mouth only to be disappointed to discover it's closed for the season! Considering here in the north we basically have two seasons, we all wish we could enjoy the nice weather for just a little longer before the long cold winter sets in.
