To the Editor:

Over the past few weeks, there have been numerous articles, news stories and blog comments emanating about/from Niki Ashton concerning Northern Regional Health Authority changes in Flin Flon, funding for Thompson from the mining reserve and other topics. While I commend Ms. Ashton for her concern, I have to ask why does it seem that she is more concerned with provincial politics than federal politics lately? Ms. Ashton was elected as a federal Member of Parliament. The voters chose her party to be in opposition to the federal Liberal government. As our MP, I did not vote for her to be meddling in provincial matters. It is not her job and quite frankly with the Liberals running amok with our tax dollars she should be concentrating her time and efforts doing what we the Canadian citizens have asked her to do.

In a constituency with the size and scope of hers, and with a high number of Aboriginal people living in poverty, she would do a lot better lobbying Mr. Trudeau's government for our share of federal help, than spending boatloads of time and effort meddling in provincial politics … something she was never elected to do.
