To the Editor:

In our history on this planet, we have had various forms of government. Theocracy – a country or region ruled by people who share a common belief system. Democracy, which used to mean voters got a government they chose, yet over the last three decades a neo-fascist mentality has created a corporate state, with unheard-of expenditures for a military machine whose dark hand creates death of innocents at the same time that it enriches the people who control the armament industry worldwide.

In the parliaments of the United Kingdom, Canada and the United States, it is common knowledge that at least five lobbyists are on hand for the purpose of influencing, if not completely deciding, which cause our elected governments proceed on according to the needs defined by the corporate agenda.

In the past decade, governments eagerly borrowed billions to help companies in Canada and the United States that were moving their production to Mexico, Indonesia or China?

This is not the system our predecessors struggled to build in Canada over one- and one-half centuries. Not at all!

We now live with a new form of government.

Kleptocracy: where theft of public money is all the rage – even labelled “white-collar crime” to give it an air of respectability. While corrupt politicians lavish industry with handouts, the same bureaucrats thieves with pensions and severance packages, not to mention the billions both Ottawa and Washington gave to the crooks of the 2008 financial fraud on Wall Street.

Kleptocracy – a twisted system formed and disguised as democracy, which rewards thieves and the new “robber barons” of the third millennium.
