Freedom: it should be at the top of the list, something others wish for but we experience each day in our young nation.

Diversity: from all over the world, people of different cultures come to Canada to become citizens, and yet are not required to relinquish their identity.

Hope: our young society will continue to build a nation based on the values taught to them by Indigenous, European, African and Latin American newcomers.

We inhabit a relatively new nation and the future is so bright, that as we celebrate the festive season, let us also bear in mind what a privilege we enjoy as Canadians in the 21st century.

Merry Christmas.
