False labour

To the Editor:

Recently, we had the pleasure of attending the United Steelworkers Local 6166 barbecue on Labour Day.

The food was great, lots of interesting people and a lot of families enjoying the meal and the awesome door prizes for the kids.

We had Colleen Smook greeting us on behalf of city council and Kelly Bindle with greetings from the current provincial government. One person conspicuously absent was our federal Member of Parliament, too busy with her second leadership campaign to mix with the peasants who put her in office. Worse still, she represents a labour party (the NDP) and as far as I’m concerned, our labour Member of Parliament avoiding the union crowd on Labour Day is like the Pope skipping Mass on Easter Sunday.
