To the Editor:

As always I wish first to thank you for allowing me to write in this distinguished newspaper of yours.

On July 14 this newspaper expressed the wish to hear from 2018 municipal election candidates what their platform is going to be. Well, as one of the candidates running for council, here are some of what I think are very important topics.

Work to improve the standard of living for people on fixed incomes like seniors and low-income families alike. Let us take a hard look at why and how we in Thompson are losing our young people to other parts of the country because of job opportunities. We also can improve our effort to maintain and secure the jobs of those who are still working. After all, they are the ones holding everything together and therefore they deserve support and respect.

We also need, I feel, to clean up this town so then and only then can we start working to improve tourism.

These are some of the topics of my agenda. If elected, I humbly ask the future mayor and council to give my plan some consideration for a better Thompson.
