Casino could generate revenue and employment

To the Editor:

As you know, the good people of Thompson are taking great interest in the upcoming civic election here in Thompson. These good people are very concerned, even worried, about their future and the future of their children and grandchildren, and they have a reason to be. The present huge employer here in Thompson – Vale – have been busy terminating and cutting staff and there is talk of more cuts to come.

So Thompson has taken a good hit and is also getting prepared for more hits to come. Now these same good people are asking the candidates that are running for a council seat the big question. What, if elected, will you do to remedy this situation? As I am one of the people running in this election I feel that I can answer the question with another question.

How does one replace the loss of a big business? Answer – bring in another big business. And for a start let us say yes to having a casino here in Thompson. This will generate revenue, employ a great number of people, etc.
