To the Editor:
For those of us in the Keewatin region, spring is a special season. The return of the migratory geese, as well as ducks, were and are still an integral part of the Cree culture: a celebration of the renewal of life, as fragile newborn creatures struggle for survival in their first few weeks of life under the orange light of the moon.
In the Celtic culture, the druids celebrated the spring solstice and the Christians celebrate Easter as the resurrection of the Creator’s promise of “renewal of all life” in an endless “circle of rebirth” for all God’s creatures, big or small.
Let us give thanks for the gift of life each spring – a time of renewal, of hope, as nature springs eternal.
